How to add a Join Group button to your website

  1. Copy your group invite link

In WhatsApp, open the group, tap its name, choose Invite via link and copy it. It starts with https://chat.whatsapp.com/.

  2. Set up your button

Create a free WAButton account and paste the link. Choose the button text, color and corner of the screen.

  3. Add the snippet to your site

Paste one snippet into your site once. After that, you change the button from your dashboard.

What you can do

1

Opens your group invite in one tap

Set the button to open your invite link directly. The visitor sees your group in WhatsApp and taps Join. Visitors on a laptop can scan the QR code instead.

2

More than one group link

WhatsApp groups hold up to 1,024 members. Add up to 10 invite links and WAButton shares visitors between them. Remove a link when its group is full.

3

Change the link in one place

Resetting a group link stops the old one from working. Paste the new link in your dashboard and your button updates without any change to your site.

Common questions

What is a WhatsApp Group button?

It is a floating button on your website that opens your group invite link. Visitors tap it, see your group in WhatsApp and choose whether to join.

How do I get my WhatsApp group invite link?

Open the group in WhatsApp, tap the group name, choose Invite via link and copy the link. It starts with https://chat.whatsapp.com/. Admins can always do this, and a group's settings decide whether other members can.

Is the WhatsApp Group button free?

Yes. Group buttons are included on every plan, including Free. The Free plan covers 1 button and 10,000 monthly visitors.

Should I use a WhatsApp Community link?

For a public website, no. WhatsApp advises sharing Community invite links privately and never on public web pages, because anyone with the link can join. Use a group with Approve new members turned on instead.

Can group members see each other's phone numbers?

In a standard WhatsApp group, yes. If that is a concern, use a WhatsApp Channel instead: followers cannot see each other's numbers.

What happens when my group is full?

WhatsApp groups hold up to 1,024 members. Add more invite links so WAButton can share new visitors between your groups, and remove the link of a full group from your dashboard.

Can I approve people before they join?

Yes. Turn on Approve new members in your WhatsApp group settings. Visitors then ask to join and an admin decides.

Can I see how many people joined from my website?

Not exactly, because WhatsApp does not share who joined or from where. You can send button taps to Google Analytics or Meta Pixel and compare them with your member count in WhatsApp.

Can I add it to WordPress or Shopify?

Yes. The button is one snippet, so it works on WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Webflow and other sites where you can add code. Our setup guides show where it goes on each platform.
